HENDRICKSON FLIES AGAIN TO VICTORY LANE AT BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY

BRIDGEPORT, NJ (April 25, 2010)  On Little League Night at Bridgeport Speedway, Wade Hendrickson, “The Flying Farmer” from Lawrenceville, NJ, was the victor in the Big Block Modified feature. In the Crate Modified event, Travis Hill was the winner. Pat Conaway outlasted the competition in the Proformance Cuts Outlaw Stock race and Matt Budd
won the Rookie race.

wadevl001Polesitter Chic Cossaboone grabbed the early lead in the 25-Lap Big Block Modified feature with Wade Hendrickson, Ryan Watt and Rich Acolia in pursuit. The first caution of the event occurred on lap 4 as
Jimmy Chester stopped at the pit entrance in turn 2. Acolia, who  began to smoke heavily prior to the yellow flag, pulled off the track when action resumed and Richie Pratt, Jr. assumed the fourth spot. As the laps clicked off, the top six of Cossaboone, Hendrickson, Watt, Pratt, Jr., Matt Harrell and Chad James began to pull away from the field. Hendrickson was starting to apply heavy pressure on Cossaboone when the yellow lights illuminated for Ron Roberts on lap 11. When green flag racing got back underway, Cossaboone  survived another challenge for the lead by Hendrickson but Pratt, Jr. moved past Watt for third. Hendrickson was making another challenge for the lead on lap 14 when Matt Harrell lost his brakes and slammed into the turn one wall bringing out the red flag. Following the stoppage, Hendrickson used the high side of the track to wrestle the lead away from Cossabooone. Pratt Jr. and Watt quickly followed Hendrickson past Cossaboone. Once in front, Hendrickson led the remaining laps and visited Bridgeport’s victory lane for the second time this season. Pratt, Jr. came home in second with Watt finishing in third. Fourth place was claimed by Brian Kressley and Cossaboone wound up in fifth. Hendrickson and Pratt, Jr. each picked up a heat race victory.

Jimmy Phelps Brings Troyer and Valken Wheels To Victory Lane At Brewerton.

JIMMY PHELPS ROMPS TO OPENING NIGHT BIG BLOCK MODIFIED WIN AT BREWERTON SPEEDWAY

jimmyphelpsvictorylaneBREWERTON,NY April 23,2010 (By Dave Medler) - Jimmy Phelps out of Baldwinsville,NY started out the 2010 season at the “D-Shaped Dirt Demon” on a high note as he had a tough, race long battle with Larry Wight. When the checkers flew Phelps parked his J&B Installations No.99j Troyer in victory lane in the 35 lap DIRTcar Big Block Modified Feature. For Phelps it was his fourth career win at Brewerton Speedway.

Other winners on SUNY Canton Night were, Dale Caswell as he picked wins in the IMCA Modifieds and the first ever NAPA Late Model Feature. Doug Williams topped the ESDCA Mod Lites and Chuck Powelczyk took top honors in the 4-Cylinder Super Stocks.

Jimmy Phelps out raced Rob Hile to lead the opening laps of the 35 lap Big Block Modified main.

On lap 8 Billy Decker got turned around in turn one to bring out the yellow. Also involved was Chuck Bower and Matt Sheppard, all three would continue.

On the restart Larry Wight used the cushion to blast around Phelps to be scored the new leader of the race.

The yellow would fly on lap 9 as Mike Mahaney had his front end collapse exiting turn four ending his night.

When the green came back out Wight and Phelps ran side by side as Alan Johnson, Michael Storms and Ryan Phelps showed in the top five.

With 15 laps in the books Wight and Phelps ran nose to tail and side by side with Johnson, Storms and Matt Sheppard racing third through fifth.

One lap later Phelps found bite on the bottom taking the lead from Wight exiting turn two just before a yellow for Jim Witko.

With Phelps leading Wight and Storms swapped 2nd back and forth allowing Phelps to open some distance on the pair as the race reached the halfway point.

When the scoreboard showed 10 to go Phelps still lead by five car lengths over Wight. Johnson, Storms and Sheppard still showed in the top five.

Over the final laps Phelps was able to put lapped cars between him and Wight to pick up the win, Wight held onto second. Third through 5th was so tight it had to be determined by scoring. Ward who started deep in the field grabbed 3rd with Alan Johnson and Michael Storms rounding out the top five.

Phelps said after his win, “We didn’t even get here once last season the sleding is so tough here. This Troyer would go in the middle, up high, low it didn’t matter. One thing I learned years ago here is, you got to be patient to make the bottom work and keep the tires on it.”

Phelps finished up by saying the competiton is so tough at Brewerton Speedway to get wins. There isn’t a dirt track anywhere like Brewerton Speedway from the drivers right down to the fans.

In the first ever NAPA Late Model 15 lap feature at Brewerton Speedway Dale Caswell picked up the win. The win was anything but easy as Caswell and Larry Wight were the show. The pair ran nose to tail and side by side as both led with the winner in doubt right down to the checkers. JJ Courcy, Aaron Jacobs and Gordy Button rounded out the top five behind Caswell and Wight.

In the 20 lap IMCA Modified Feature Josh Van Tassel lead the first 16 laps before Dale Caswell was able to drive by into the lead on lap sixteen. Once in the lead Caswell cruised to the win. Van Tassell, Kevan Cook, Mike Smith and Jerry Lobdell rounded out the top five.

Mike Williams earned a hard fought win the 20 lap Beaver River Distribution ESDCA Mod Lite Feature. Early in the main Williams had a tough fight with Terry Lapham for the top spot. Over the final laps Williams had to hold off Clayton Brewer III for the win. For Williams it was his 34th Brewerton Mod Lite win. Lapham, Joe Garafolo and Jeff Isabell rounded out the top five.

Chuck Powelczyk picked up where he left off in 2009 by dominating the Four Cylinder Super Stock main. Stephen Denton, Jessica Herbert, Mike Lewis and Wendall Washington rounded out the top five.

Jimmy Schiltz Wins Back To Back This Weekend With Valken Late Model Wheels.

April 23, 2010

April 16. Lawndale, NC – Jimmy Schiltz and Team 24 opened the season in impressive fashion by setting fast time, and leading every lap of the heat and main to score his first feature event win of the year on Friday night. “To come out of the box and run this well is truly remarkable. Our DWB chassis was rolling tonight!” said Jimmy in Victory Lane. The victory came over Steve Hendren, Ron Parker, Jason Pack and Travis Lawson.

April 17. Madison, NC – Jimmy Schiltz continued his hot streak by winning at the famed 311 Fastrak on Saturday night. The dominating win was his second in a row to start the year, and 4 out of 5 dating back to the 2009 season. “This one was far from routine. We broke the power steering belt going into turn 1 on the first lap of qualifying, and by the time I reached turn 3 the rack was all but locked up” stated Jimmy about the start of the night. “Luck was on our side though, as we somehow timed 6th out of the 32 cars, which put us in the re-draw”. Schiltz ended up on the pole after the re-draw, and dominated all 25 laps of the race. “Our DWB is incredible, it keeps getting better and better all the time. I am glad I am the only one around here that has one. I wish we could race tomorrow.”

Schiltz and Team 24 will return to action Friday night, April 23rd at CCS and again Saturday night, April 24th at 311 Fastrak for NDRA action. WEEDSPORT, NY April 18, 2010 (By Dave Medler) – Cayuga County Fair Speedway came to life today after a long winter. What a show the fans were treated to for the 2010 season opener. Billy Dunn and Danny Johnson had a slug fest in the green to checker 35 lap DIRTcar Big Block Modified Feature. In constant traffic Johnson was able to get by Dunn on lap 24 when Dunn made contact with a lapped car. Once in the lead Johnson from Rochester, NY fought off Dunn and lapped cars for the 1.5 second win.

Other winners were, Steve Gray 25 lap DIRTcar Sportsman, Mike Welch 20 lap DIRTcar Stock Cars and Nick Werner 20 lap BattleKarz.

Billy Dunn out ran Dave Rauscher to the first turn to lead the 35 lap Big Block Modified Feature.

With 5 laps in the books Dunn built up a 2 second lead on the field. Danny Johnson, Dave Rauscher, Steve Paine and Dale Planck gave chase while running in the top five.

On lap 10, Dun Still led but Johnson started chipping away at the lead. Paine Rauscher and Planck ran a distant third through fifth.

On lap 18 the halfway point, Dunn crossed the line a half a bumper ahead of Johnson.

Three laps later Dunn started catching lapped traffic which allowed Johnson to close in setting up a battle for the win.

On lap 24 Dunn made slight contact with a lapped car that allowed Johnson to slip by to be scored the new leader of the race.

Over the final laps Johnson battled lapped traffic and was able to put distance on Dunn for the 1.5 second win. Billy Dunn, Steve Paine, Dave Rauscher and Dale Planck rounded out the top five. Jimmy Phelps, Matt Sheppard, Rob Bellinger, Larry Wight and Alan Johnson completed the top ten.

After exiting his Honeoye Auto Parts – Waste Management – Currier Plastics No.27j Johnson talked about his win. “I can’t thank Mike Payne and the guys enough for all their hard work and putting me in this car. That was a tough win with all the lapped traffic we were just a little bit better than him (Billy Dunn) today. For Johnson it was his seventh opening day win at the Weedsport oval.

In the 25 lap DIRTcar Sportsman Feature Steve Gray jumped out to the lead at the drop of the green and held off the challenges of Jeremy Pitcher and then Timmy Sears Jr. for the convincing win. Timmy Sears, Jeremy Pitcher, Tommy Juhl and Greg Mrzywka rounded out the top five. John Juhl, Adam Hilton, Jim Spano, Ricky Newton and Dave Marcuccilli completed the top ten.

“I don’t know about easy,” Gray said about his easy win. “I expected the 14 car (Jeremy Pitcher) to give us more fits on the bottom. The track is really slippery here tonight,I really think it was going to be who got out front first was really going to win tonight’s show. For Gray it was his second win a row behind the wheel of the Fox’s Auto No.29g as he won the season opening Mr DIRTcar Sportsman Tour Race last week at Black Rock Speedway.

Frank Burnell seemed to be heading for a certain win in the 20 lap DIRTcar Stock Car Feature. On lap 14 Burnell got caught behind a slowing car on the back straight. Burnell had to get hard on the brakes to avoid hitting the slowing car, that allowed Mike Welch to drive by and into the lead for the win. Frank Burnell, Andy Fisk, Nate Peckham and Ron Hawker rounded out the top five. Chris Fisher, Kerry Hammond, Mike Schultz, Mike Rasbeck and Russ Marsden completed the top ten.

“I’m happy, I never thought I’d get Bubba (Frank Burnell) that lapped car messed him up. We were going to take advantage of that opportunity and here we are.” The car that put Mike Welch in victory lane was a new EMS car that the team worked on all winter with Pizza Logs on the sharp No.00 car.

Nick Werner totally dominated the 20 lap BattleKarz Feature over Billy Werner.
