Andy Bachetti Captures King of the Track on Kenny Schrader Night

August 23, 2010

West Lebanon, NY: A wild and crazy night of racing on a special night that included a visit from NASCAR Veteran Kenny Schrader. VP Small Engine Fuel SEF 94 and Dougherty Brothers Construction presented the full night of racing action on the legendary high banks at Lebanon Valley Speedway.

The 30 lap Big Block Modified feature with $4,000 to win on the line started off with Kyle Sheldon’s #518 and the #14 of Lorne Browe out in front of the field. Browe took off to the early lead and began to pull away. Back in the field the guest of honor, Kenny Schrader, piloting the #115S, was battling to stay in the top 5.

Caution flew on lap 7 for the #43 of Keith Flach spinning into the outside fence in turn 3 after contact deep in the field. The #518 of Sheldon got around Browe for the lead and started to edge away. Caution flew again on lap 14 of the Kokosa Oil Inc lap counter.

Sheldon powered out again but, the hard charging #34B of Andy Bachetti charged by on lap 15. Brett Hearn’s #20H was now hot on his heals after another caution slowed the field. But Bachetti had plenty in reserve to hold off Hearn in the closing laps.

At the checkers, the #34B captured the $4,000 checkered flag along with capturing the King of the Track series. Hearn crossed the line 2nd followed by J.R. Heffner, Donnie Corellis, and Matt Quinn. Kenny Schrader held on to finish 15th after his return to the Valley of Speed after nearly 20 years.

In the LV Sportsman division, their 20 lap feature started with Ryan Darcy and Danny Sanchez at the head of the class. Darcy jumper out to the early lead but it was short lived as the #25 of defending champ Frank Harper darted into the top spot by lap 7 and never looked back.

A late race challenge by the #16 of Kyle Hoffman came up a bit short, as Harper scores the win. Hoffman settled for 2nd followed by Jeff Watson, Kim Herrick, and Kolby Schroder to round out the top 5 finishers.

The 20 lap Pro Stock feature saw the #25J of Jeff Washburn and the #78 of Paul LaRochelle lead the field to green. But by the time lap 2 clicked on the Kokosa Oil In lap counter, the #324 of Jason Casey was out front.

Robbie Speed was following Casey in his tire track for the remainder of the event. As Casey scores the win with Speed right on his bumper for 2nd. 3rd was Jon Routhier, followed by Paul LaRochelle, and Chad Jeseo to complete the top 5.

The last feature of the night was the wild and exciting Budget Sportsman 20 lap event. At the front of the field was the #4NY of Robbie Speed and the #4 of Chris George. Several cautions plagued the beginning of the race with several incidents.

A brief incident on the front stretch under caution resulted in the #22 of Tim Hartman Jr being penalized and resulted in a DQ after making contact with the #18X of Bobby Knipe. Then a few laps later, another heated battle on the speedway resulted in contact under the caution between the #9M of Anthony Montessi and the #1H of Jason Herrington.

Montessi was also black flagged and penalized resulting in a DQ as well. Once racing finally got under way, it was Speed still out front but, not for long as the #14 of Scott Duel charged out front on lap 6.

But that lead was quickly erased as the #12C of Peter Carlotto took over the top spot on lap 8, and held on the remainder of the 20 laps. A late race challenge by Robbie Knipe was no match for Carlotto as he scored his first win of 2010. Knipe finished 2nd, followed by Scott Duell, Rob Barile, and Jake Jelley.

Earlier in the evening, Joey Morey scored the win in Pure Stock #1. Chris Gero took the checkers in Pure Stock #2, while James Hatch rallied to win Pure Stock #3.
