Also included in the box with the GelBlaster Surge are an 800 round grenade-shaped hopper and the adapter necessary to thread it into the top of the blaster and a set of safety glasses. While these are more than enough of a safety measure for most adults and teens who might enjoy gel blaster or gelly ball games, for younger players or anyone concerned about safety, a simple and affordable Valken Gotcha MI-3 paintball goggle is an ideal choice as it will protect the eyes, entire face and forehead, and includes a chin strap and a strap for the top of the head to ensure the goggle stays in place on even a child’s head! The Surge fires in fully-automatic mode, allowing players to hold the trigger down and blast at rates of fire between 8 and 10 shots per second. Thankfully, the included 800 round hopper provided with the Surge can keep the ammo coming for the entire game, and additional Gel Blaster grenade hoppers are available for purchase allowing players to swap out easily during a game. Players can even upgrade their Gel Blaster Surge with a feed neck adapter and a paintball-style hopper with a flip lid from Valken, making shooting and reloading much faster and easier, especially in the middle of a game when used with Valken Gotcha flick-lid paintball pods, each holding literally hundreds of Gel Blaster Gellets or other gelly ball ammo!During testing, a fleet of GelBlaster Surge blasters was charged via their included USB-C charging cables then used throughout a full day of games that catered to dozens of players ranging from children under ten to adults. Tens of thousands of rounds of gel ammo were slung back and forth, with most players simply holding their trigger down and blasting hundreds of Gellets, until their hopper was empty! Each and every Gel Blaster Surge used during testing functioned flawlessly, gobbling up hopper after hopper of gelly ball ammo with no jams or malfunctions of any kind. Players young and old who used the Surge enjoyed its light weight and even the youngest players were able to run around the game field carrying the Gel Blaster Surge, point it and use it, with no issues. At regular game ranges of 30-40 feet, the Surge proved accurate enough to make aimed shots on opponents though most players simply preferred to walk streams of Gellets into one-another, giggling and laughing the entire time. The biggest issue encountered during a full day of play was that there never seemed to be enough hydrated gel ammo to keep everyone playing! As an added and incredibly important feature, the bright colored Gel Blaster Surge, delivered in a grey-ish white with colorful orange and blue interchangeable fins, in no way resembles a firearm or other weapon, adding to the fun and increasing the level of safety for anyone playing in an outdoor environment.
